In 1994, under rector Juan José Goiriena de Gandarias, the Museum was converted into a Foundation named 'Medikuntza eta Zientzia Historiaren Euskal Museoaren Fundazioa / Fundación Museo Vasco de Historia de la Medicina y de la Ciencia'.
